Install Gnosis in a few minutes.
Two options. Both run on your computer and need Ollama to run the models.
Mac app
Gnosis as an app with its own icon. Unzip it and drag it to Applications. The first time, right-click it and choose Open.
Download for MacMac and Windows
The full package. On a Mac, double-click start.command. On Windows, double-click start.bat. Your browser opens Gnosis.
Before you start: install Ollama and open it once. It runs the models on your computer.
If a model is missing, Gnosis shows an Install button and downloads it for you. The chat model is about 5 GB and the memory model about 270 MB, once only.

Does it need an internet connection?
Only to download the models the first time, and only if you choose to use the cloud option. Chatting, searching and remembering all work on your computer.
Where is my data kept?
In a private folder on your computer, outside Documents, OneDrive and iCloud so syncing cannot damage it. Nothing is stored on a Gnosis server.
Do I need an account?
No. There is nothing to sign up for.
Which models does it use?
By default, Llama 3.1 8B for chat and nomic-embed-text for memory, both through Ollama. You can pick other installed models in Settings.
What can I add to memory?
Notes you type, files such as PDF and Word documents, and web links. You can also add a fact from a chat by saying “remember that…”.
What if I want to move to another computer?
Create a password-protected backup in Settings and restore it on the other machine.
